The ANU National Security College is asking Australians what threats concern them most about our future, with submissions closing 31 October 2025. This 1-hour workshop with Greg Sadler helps you turn your concerns about AI into an effective submission that reaches national security decision-makers.
Australia's national security decision-makers want to know: What keeps you up at night? What threatens our future? What should we protect?
The ANU National Security College is conducting Australia's first study of public attitudes towards national security. Submissions close 31 October 2025. Their findings will inform a 2026 report that will guide government policy, parliamentary debate and national security priorities.
They want perspectives from ordinary Australians, not just security experts. They want people to consider a broad range of emerging threats, not just traditional ones.
Why this workshop matters
If you're concerned about artificial intelligence, this consultation is a direct invitation to share your perspective. The NSC wants to hear about emerging threats, challenges to democratic institutions, risks to our economy and anything that could undermine Australia's future.
Polling shows 80% of Australians believe preventing AI-driven catastrophic risks should be a global priority, and 94% think Australia should lead international AI governance efforts. By joining this workshop you can turn those concerns into effective submissions.
What to expect
In this 1-hour workshop led by Greg Sadler (CEO of Good Ancestors), we will:
- Review what the NSC is asking and the scope of their consultation
- Explore how AI intersects with the security themes they're investigating (defence, cyber, democratic resilience, economic security, biosecurity)
- Review Good Ancestors' draft submission
- Workshop your own submissions during the course of the event
We'll help you articulate why AI matters for Australia's security and future.
Who should attend
- Anyone concerned about the development of AI and its implications for Australia
- People who want their concerns heard in national security discussions
- Those worried about emerging threats but unsure how to engage with government consultations
- Individuals or organisations preparing submissions on technology, security or Australia's future
No technical expertise required. The NSC wants perspectives from all Australians.
