With Artificial Intelligence developing rapidly, Australia's next Parliament will shape whether it becomes a powerful force for good or causes serious harm. This Virtual Town Hall will discuss how and why Australia can contribute to future AI systems being safe and the $600 billion economic benefit that could follow
Professor of Law at the University of Sydney, a Chief Investigator with the ARC Centre of Excellence for Automated Decision-Making and Society, and Co-Director of the University of Sydney's Centre for AI, Trust and Governance.
Researcher in AI Safety at the Gradient Institute. Liam completed his Master's in Mathematics at the University of Melbourne. He does a range of research and practical work focusing on ensuring powerful AI systems are both beneficial and safe.
Co-Founder of Clear AI. She has a Masters of National Security Policy from the ANU and has had various roles in Canberra, including as Digital Media Adviser to former Prime Minister Scott Morrison.
Researcher at the University of Queensland and has a Bachelor of Psychological Sciences. She's completed research into Australian public priorities for AI development and regulation, and is currently working on AI risks at MIT.
Author of "What's the Worst That Could Happen? Existential Risk and Extreme Politics." He is a former ANU economics professor with a PhD from Harvard.
The event will be MC'd by Greg Sadler from Good Ancestors.
Our event included expert guests as well as David Shoebridge (Australian Greens) who joined to discuss AI policy. Representatives from Labor and the Coalition were unable to attend but we continue to engage with all parties on the importance of AI safety.
